🧠Clickbait Doesn’t Convert. Chemistry Does.
Ever meet someone who makes a killer first impression…
…but you can’t remember their name 5 minutes later?
That’s how most brands show up in people’s feeds.
Loud. Flashy. High-energy.
Gone.
It’s not that the ad didn’t work.
It’s that it triggered dopamine — not chemistry.
Dopamine is the scroll-stopper.
The TikTok cut. The countdown timer. The “LAST CHANCE” headline.
It grabs. But it doesn’t bond.
It’s built for chasing, not choosing. And definitely not buying.
What you actually want?
Serotonin and Oxytocin.
The neurochemicals of trust, safety, and identity.
Because clickbait doesn’t convert — chemistry does.
Why?
Dopamine Ads:
– Slot machine energy
– Spikes attention, crashes performance
– Loud, but forgettable
Chemistry Ads:
– Calm, clear, emotionally resonant
– Mirrors the buyer’s values
– Makes them feel safe, seen, and understood
If your ads are getting cheaper clicks but flat conversions, the problem isn’t your audience targeting.
It’s chemical targeting.
Let’s fix it.
Best,
Peter Delle
