What I See in Every Failing Ad Account
(And Almost None of the Winning Ones)
Most ad accounts I audit are structured like IKEA furniture assembled by a drunk raccoon.
At first glance, things look like they’re in the right place.
Campaigns are running. Budgets are spent. ROAS isn’t horrible.
But underneath?
It's chaos.
And that chaos silently kills scale.
Here’s what I see in failing ad accounts almost every time.
1. Testing is happening — but nothing is actually being learned.
They're swapping out hooks and headlines weekly.
But they can’t tell you what worked and why.
No structured naming. No hypothesis. No debrief.
👉 Testing without tracking isn’t testing. It’s gambling.
2. Attribution strategy is still stuck in 2020.
They’re clinging to last-click, or worse — trusting Meta’s in-platform numbers like it’s gospel.
No triangulation. No MER perspective. No incremental thinking.
❌ If you're only looking inside the platform, you're missing the full chessboard.
3. Their audience strategy is too safe.
They’re endlessly targeting the same “interest stack” that worked last quarter.
No cold prospecting, no lookalikes, no psychographic angles. Just more spend poured into a shrinking pond.
💡 If your audience isn’t evolving, neither is your business.
4. Creative is being judged by click-through rate — not revenue.
CTR is high. CPC is low. Everyone’s celebrating… while sales flatline.
The winning ad? It just attracted the wrong clickers.
🫨 Vanity metrics are the #1 killer of profitable growth.

Clear naming. Clean testing logs. Ruthless prioritization.
And every asset has a job.
